★★★★★ Fun story and game
Mon May 20 2024 Yay, I'm a llama! This is a fun game and a nice way to spend some time. The illustrations are very good and the story is engaging. The options for customizing the gardens are really cool, I hope it will be possible to make some wild areas in the future versus being all formal. I like the additional stories you can do now. There are good side games as well, to keep things interesting and earn coins or stars. The developers did a good job adding more variety to the daily Top Cat game, it was repeating often and they’ve added more layouts (thank you!). I love the cat path game Dawn Patrol. One thing I wish it didn’t have, and this is a super small detail, is characters clapping when a task or item is completed. This reminds me of a certain other gardening game which has a really creepy guy. Simon is much more wholesome and shouldn’t need that cheesy gimmick. UPDATE: I love the weekly throwback videos! And I love that some animals from the story stay visible in the gardens once the story is complete. I keep checking the trees for owls and the dens for other creatures, just in case you add any. :) ALSO, can you make an “endless” game where there’s no time limit, you just try to get the highest score for as long as you are willing to play? Would be so fun! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Overall the game is one of the brightest stars in Apple Arcade and something other developers should aspire to!
★★★★★ Love these games
Wed Apr 30 2025 SwedeLisa23Finally, games where you’re not being chased by monsters, made to feel stupid, or about to fall off a cliff or killed by a weapon-wielding assassin. The animation is truly magical and definitely plugged into domestic cat behavior and it makes me laugh every time I play. Though I love the music, due to chronic migraine I rarely have it turned on, but I still love it and how it adds a great bit of whimsy and charm to the soundtrack of the antics of Cat and his friends.
When Cat Man Do went viral back in 2008, I was introduced to it by the woman who then ran the Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge (26,000 acres managed by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service). I was president of the nonprofit that served the Refuge at the time and we quickly shared the video with both friends and colleagues at the Refuge as well as an assortment of staff from the National Park Service, state parks, preserves and forests. It was really cool to see a bunch of nerdy cat people who not only nerd out about how smart/funny/loveable our own much smaller felines are at home, but who care so much and work tirelessly to educate people and raise awareness of the highly endangered pumas that live primarily in the western Everglades (our backyards). Long story- sorry! In case you can’t guess, I’ve been charmed by Cat and use all the games almost as “therapy” to escape the stress and pressure of day-to-day life in the mostly NOT United States of Americats these days. Thank you for the wonderful distractions you give us each time we play. Long live Simon’s cat!!!
★★★★★ A fun game for a change! Highly recommend
Wed Aug 18 2021 GritsgalI finally found a game I love. I like to play this type of game but usually give up or I get bored. This has a cute and interesting storyline that makes you interested in the end which of course you continue on to do so. In all the games I’ve played, this is the first I actually stayed with long enough that I came to the end. I wrote asking you about it and you assured me there would be more in the future and you have just updated and added in the sketches and building the ideas he comes up with and so far I’m enjoying but hope there will be more. I want to thank you for something else too. You have scenes that are difficult and have to have a certain amount of money or what have you to pass if you can’t cypher or beat using strategy. Thankfully you didn’t build in that we couldn’t beat it if we tried enough. In other words you didn’t make it impossible to continue on for those who don’t have excess mad money to spend on games or have to be a computer expert. I thank you for that because I was there now and then. Other games were never fun or interesting enough for me to try so hard, so often for so long. Thanks. Keep up the good work and add more chapters or a new game using the same ideas. I highly recommend.
★★★★★ Best Game In the App Store
Sat Jul 10 2021 suezyg23Update 7/9: After the latest update there is a new Achievement called Stack the Hedgehog. How do you get to this and Midnight Feast? I finished the story, found all the gnomes and am on level 650. Also on the Daily Challenge did the point system change? Before the update I would get the gold chest and usually be in the top 50. When the challenge ended I would get the prizes associated with the gold chest. Now the points seem to be floating based on the top players. I was in 3rd place, had the gold chest but when the challenge ended I was in 17th and my color chest was down graded.
Update: Still love the game. I really liked the find the gnome in the update and really love the daily challenge. But, since the update, I am unable to unlock the Midnight Feast achievement. I finished the story (Chapter 16). At this point I thought the achievement would be unlocked. You can still play levels and I thought maybe you have to be at a certain level. I am up to 545 and still nothing. I’m so close to completing all the achievements but until this is fixed, I’m stuck. Took a star away until it’s fixed.
First, I have downloaded hundreds of games and rarely feel compelled to write a review. Lately I am so tired of either of having to watch constant videos to advance or pay to play (coins). This is the first game that has neither and is a blast to play. I’m on level 373. As the levels get higher it gets harder but the developer has come up with clever ways to earn coins to buy power ups and different items to help clear levels. The game play is fun, challenging at times and well worth it.
★★★★★ Side games are buggy.
Tue May 09 2023 CJ WolfeThe game itself, and the various chaptered stories the developer has added in the last year or so are cute, and function as they should. The challenges that run with the story progression and the 3000 plus levels work as expected. However, the ‘Top Cat’ game is incredibly buggy, as it relies on Apple’s leaderboard system, which has well-known problems. Players are often shown the wrong reward icon for their high score, or receive a much lower reward even if they earn a spot in the top ten. Either the leaderboard system can’t keep up with the ‘battle royale’ structure of the Top Cat game, and players are shown an ‘old’ score rather than a current ranking because something gets ‘stuck’ on the back end, or the programming itself for this particular part of Apple’s leaderboard system is broken. Why bother playing for a gold chest when at best, you’ll get a reward two tiers down, even if the leaderboard says your rank is high enough for the top prize? After one runs out of regular game levels, Top Cat is the only way to earn enough coin to play Midnight Feast for long enough to accumulate treat pieces. This needs work, and per a Reddit thread detailing the problem, the solution has to come from Apple, not Tactile Games. They have no control over the leaderboard system.
★★★★★ Clearly meant to be pay to win; also, not very fun
Sat Apr 10 2021 Dr. YevOne star over minimum for effort but this game is not worth anyone’s time. Never thought I’d say this, but the games this was clearly copied from are better.
Issue 1: this game reeks for a hastily converted pay to win title. It starts out nice and easy and then ramps up the difficulty very quickly. The power ups are very expensive and are effectively unaffordable with in-game currency. Of course, since it is an arcade title, it is impossible to buy the currency. Frankly, I have never purchased in-game currency. I usually just stop playing when the difficulty gets to lo punishing, which is what I will do here. But, there is essentially no way to get over the hump aside from luck.
Issue 2: this is a blatant rip off of one of those matchington games but it rips off everything except the fun part. It is a game about clearing up a park and having boring conversations; it also gives the player minor esthetic choices. Sure, the characters are different but the story is essentially the same and even the in-game power ups are identical. The fun part of the commercialized bejewel clone I’m referring to is the fact that when a match occurs accidentally, it is cleared and therefore the gameplay is dynamic. You may luck out and clear the board in a few moves and that’s fun. Here, the game is “click on a cluster” and of course matches have to be clicked on to remove, therefore, the gameplay is not dynamic and gets stale quickly. They may give you more moves but there’s nothing fun about clicking on series of twos. The power ups are meant for a match three game and don’t help a whole lot.
★★★★★ The rng is ridiculous
Wed Apr 30 2025 Jj75476Like the title says. Basically unplayable at a certain point, certainly unenjoyable. I’ve stopped even bothering to use the power ups you can start a level with because they’re basically useless 95% of the time. The rockets will be facing the wrong way, the bomb will be too far from anything you need it for, there will be no tiles of the color of the skein of yarn and the bulk of the time the pieces will not fall in a way that is useful, I’ve also stopped paying the 250 gold to get a few more moves for the same reason, unless you can guaranteed make the objective in those 5 moves. The trowel and rake can be good, but only if you get lucky enough with the initial drops and alignments to get to a point where taking out a cross shape or a handful of singular tiles will win, and the game is so stacked against you it feels like most of the time that isn’t happening. There’s no point hoarding the coins or powerups but there’s just no point using them either. It’s less a game about skill and strategy and more of a slots style rng now and I’ve never considered myself lucky and don’t find gambling on straight chance to be fun. Vegas is always doing well so probably this game will continue to do so too, but I’m about done. It a shame, because I liked the earlier levels and the Simon’s Cat tie in is a cute gimmick. My favorite part of the game now is the once-a-day-ability to skip a level, and if the thing I like best is being “allowed” to not play, I think that’s a pretty bad game.
★★★★★ Update: can’t progress past lvl 6:9
Thu Jan 25 2024 KidgettUpdate: items and progress are still lost sometimes when reentering game, and now I can’t progress past lvl 6:9 because it says downloading 1/13’ then ‘unable to download’. My internet connection is fine and very fast. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled several times, deleted all my saved files and started over 5 times. This game is absolutely riddled with bugs. I give up. It’s unplayable and too frustrating. I love Simon’s Cat! It’s fun and cute, and all the extra puzzles and challenges keep it fresh and interesting. I also love the lack of ads, so I can just enjoy the game with no frustrating interruptions. This is my favourite app on my phone by far. The crashes have been fixed – thank you! – but the other bugs are still there which make the game quite frustrating. When switching to other apps (like to check messages), and often when closing and reopening the game, progress and items can be lost. It doesn’t happen every time, but often enough. I’ve lost all starts and all items multiple times. I’ve reinstalled and started several new games, but it keeps happening. I’m deleting the game now because I after many hours and accumulating a couple dozen each of the bonuses and items, today they’re gone again. It’s just too disheartening.
